Foldover elastic either has a line scored lengthwise down the middle, so it folds over neatly and easily, or it comes already pre-folded (like the ruched black elastic shown here). 1st photo shows the elastics as-is, 2nd photo shows the white and mauve elastics when folded. Typically used in making inner wear - to enclose raw edges such as at the waist and leg opening of underwear, or the edges of bralettes. Details of each:-
- Mauve: 1cm folded/ 1.8cm unfolded. Especially thin microfibre, soft and matte. Light mauve (pinkish purple) with a pink stripe. 130% stretch.
- White ruffle: 1.2cm folded including a 4mm ruffle/ 1.6cm unfolded. Plush finish, looks matte, except the ruffle which has a sheen. Natural white colour. 120% stretch.
- Black ruched: 1.2cm pre-folded/ 2cm unfolded. Jet black, with tiny ruched detail on the right side and scalloped edge. Not thick despite the ruching (no thicker than the white ruffle elastic). Matte, plush finish. 130% stretch.
To preserve the life of anything with elastic, avoid washing at high temperatures or tumble drying.
