A linen/ cotton blend denim fabric with thicker yarns than other denim fabrics that I've stocked before. The natural white weft yarns are cotton and vary in thickness, whilst the deep blue yarns are linen. The overall colour is a vintage dark denim blue, but be aware that both the colour and handle will change somewhat after washing, as is typical for raw denim. The reverse side of the fabric is quite soft and feels cottony-smooth and dry to the touch. The right side has a slightly crisp and dry texture, which is still comfortable against the skin. Fabric has a bit of stiffness to it, which is normal for raw denim, but also a little drape. Suitable for clothing such as jackets, hats, thicker tops, pants and shorts, as well as bags, homewares and handicrafts. Swatches are available, leave a note at check-out if you would like one.
Note on washing: Denim fabric should be washed by itself the first few times, as the natural indigo dye will run. Washing a large piece of raw denim in your home washing machine may lead to dye lines caused by creasing, so you may wish to cut the fabric into smaller lengths and/or pre-soak the fabric before putting it into the machine, to minimise creases. Here's some useful reading: (1) (under the heading "Washing Denim"), and (2). Additionally, if you want to minimise fading, do not dry denim fabric or the finished garment in direct sunlight.
