Linen/ cotton/ elastane blend bengaline fabric (mainly linen) in cool off-white with fine light grey stripes. It is quite dry to the touch, and soft for a linen blend with mild texture that is comfortable against the skin. Has a fair amount of both drape and structure, with soft, "springy" stretch. This fabric is almost opaque when unstretched, and slightly translucent when stretched - I think it’s suitable for pants as long as you avoid contrasting inner wear. Ideal for bottoms and could also be used for thicker tops and dresses where stretch is desired. Brand deadstock.
Bengaline is a newer fabric type for the shop. It is probably as close to a stretchy knit as you can get with a woven fabric. It stretches with the grain in the length-wise direction, so is meant to be cut across the grain. There are patterns specifically designed for bengaline, such as the Style Arc Barb pant and their other stretch woven styles, which could be a useful reference.
This fabric may be restocked if sold out.
