German pure wool felt, originally intended for undercollars in men's tailoring.  This is a structured material but it is not hard nor extremely stiff - I've tried to convey how it behaves in the photos (all three colours behave roughly the same).  This listing is for the blue-grey colour, the dark brown and bronze green are available separately.  It is comfortable to the touch and not at all scratchy - it could even be described as cuddly, especially after washing.  For inspiration, here's some ideas on what can be made with wool felt.  Please note, this is of narrow width, and it is not super thick (less than 2mm), so you may have to layer it for some applications, such as ironing pads or coasters.  I used a single layer to make a tailor's ham and have been pressing all my makes on it.

As with all new fabrics, I suggest washing before using - a soak or hand-wash with gentle detergent will do.  It may pill a little on first wash, but I just snipped the pills off and it has been fine ever since.  Creases or slight rippling in the surface will smoothen out easily with a quick press.
